Owner & Therapist

Sequoia is proud native of Baltimore, Maryland. Since childhood she has always had a vision to help people and impact change in the community. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Bowie State University and an MS in Counseling Psychology from Towson University, both with honors. In 2012 she became a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and has over more than 15 years providing mental health services, advocacy, and treatment to the community. She has also become a board approved supervisor to support the professional growth of other students working to obtain full licensure.

Throughout the years, Sequoia  has gained extensive experience dealing with a wide range of presenting needs including substance abuse, depression, trauma, anxiety, relationship issues, psychosis, and issues surrounding poverty and homelessness. Sequoia is passionate about increasing awareness regarding mental health issues and dedicated to addressing and ending mental health stigma, especially in minority population. Sequoia has experience in providing services and therapy to diverse populations including children, adults, and seniors in school-based settings, traditional office, and community-based settings. She has gained invaluable experience and made meaningful contributions and impact over the years as a geriatric mental health advocate, adolescent substance use counselor, school-based therapist, outpatient mental health clinic therapist, ACT team clinician, and case management clinical supervisor.

Sequoia is sensitive to the individual needs of each of her clients and shows understanding, support, unconditional positive regard, and compassion in each session. Through processing feelings, establishing rapport, and creating a trusting environment she wants her clients to feel empowered to begin healing and move forward with making positive change in their life.

Today Sequoia continues to educate herself on new developments within the industry, so that she can best service her clients and the community. Most recently she has become a Mental Health First Aid Instructor offering classes to the community and general public on how to assist loved ones, friends, or colleagues who may be experiencing mental health issue or crisis. Sequoia continues to evolve as a therapist, advocate, and ambassador of mental health issues.
